Finding out who's strong...

As you all know Donald Trump is making the rounds throughout the media. Most of them can't stand him, my wife thinks he's a waste of space. I on the other hand find him interesting and amusing at times. Look, the man says what's on his mind without any filters. That is one tactic he has that the other candidates don't and can't have. The man is a business man - not a politician. He has his own money backing so he doesn't have to put on a filter mask before any scheduled interviews or speeches. I for one will be watching this "race" in the next few months. It's early folks, what's happening now will probably not have any affect next year when it's closer to November. Sit back, grab your favorite drink and stick an umbrella in it. It's fun times ahead.

Are you kidding me?!?

The linked title above will direct you to an article I read that a woman filed a lawsuit against Quaker Oats and their name brand Captain Crunch because she thought for many years that she was truly eating actual fruit pieces in the berries cereal. Okay I know that times are tight and that this might of been an easy win given the history of some of the judges in California but come on really - filing a lawsuit because there wasn't any actual fruit in the berries cereal is just insane let alone embarrassing to her and her family. Just when you thought things can't get any more weirder poof out comes this story. Some people just need a break away from the rainbow colored pills and I'm not talking about Skittles. The judge isn't mentioned in the article but I would like to send a huge Thank You for doing the right thing and tossing this suit out the window.

A different look on the future...

A different look at it...

When I watched this video I began to wonder how many restaurants here in Toledo throw away good food in order to make room for the next delivery? What Ruthy Woodring is and has been doing for quite some time now can only be seen as wonderful, not only is she helping those who aren't able gather their own food but she's doing her part to make sure these items don't end up in some landfill. I want to send a special thank you to her and her friends who take the time to make sure that food like this isn't wasted. Actually, if our city officials can talk to local businesses about their daily habit we might be able to decrease the hunger numbers by about 20 to 25 percent. When my wife and I participated in the annual Tent City in downtown Toledo I had the chance to sit down and talk to a gentleman that saw the annual event very uplifting and helpful to those who feel there is no hope for them. If you're a restaurant owner or a worker and you're reading this please take the added time to keep that extra food that you normally throw out and contact your local organization that provides food to the homeless and see if they can distribute that food to people that very same night.

Someone actually understands...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said this week that if elected president he would punish states that provide illegal immigrants with tuition breaks or those that issue them driver's licenses.

I can't for the life of me understand how those states that offer the licenses and tuition breaks to illegal immigrants can actually think that what they're doing is okay. We as a nation have laws that were created to better this country, I can imagine the outrage of the immigrants who are taking the time to enter this country "Legally" when they watch the news and hear that illegals get rights from this country by simply breaking the law. That has to be the biggest disappointment ever to know that a country that is strong in diversity can't manage to keep themselves protected from border crossers. Most immigrants are coming here to leave the world they know of where border crossers come and disrupt the flow of life by either killing people for the wrong reason or for any reason. Here they are now entering what is known as the 'Liberty and Freedom Country' the legal way and they find themselves witnessing illegal border crossings which they have already seen before and they can only assume that this isn't going to end up good. I can't blame them for coming to that conclusion because the truth of the matter is slapping us right in the face. Let's not keep the blinders on and think that we're a okay - just remember 9-11-01. Saving that buck for presents...

The one thing I love the most is the fact that I can save a lot of money buying the same products that most grocery stores have at a higher price. The video link below has an inside look on how you can save hundreds of dollars each month. The one thing that I know that we don't do is buy product that is ready to go, for example - precooked meats, sliced cheese sold in quarter pieces, prepared mashed potatoes etc. Well I am kind of guilty on that last one, I love to buy the mashed potatoes already mashed for me so that I can cut some time during prep work for dinner. With the cut down on foods that are ready to go you will easily find yourself saving lots at month's end. This post is up so that in case my brother happens to be checking me online he might see this and think twice about buying that easy meal that takes seconds to prep.

A merger worth the wait...

I just read and heard the announcement that Delta and United Airlines are in talks of merging with the American Airlines name staying and the corporate offices remaining in Chicago. I believe that with this merger the prices of tickets will be coming down in the near future. The prices before the holidays may not be tweaked enough to see a difference but I can safely say that they will run smoother and more efficient. With the praise of Southwest Airlines being a very well managed airline and the many kudos to the employees receive for treating their customers with respect and as a family member has other companies like the ones merging beefing up their measures and standards.

Veteran Ben Israel...

About 44,000 to 64,000 veterans are classified as "chronically homeless" -- homeless for long periods or repeatedly.
Other veterans -- nearly 468,000 -- are experiencing "severe housing cost burden," or paying more than half their income for housing, thereby putting them at a high risk for homelessness.

This past weekend my wife and I volunteered at the Annual Tent City here in downtown Toledo, OH. She and I helped serve many of those very same vets as well as non-vets. The sight of seeing that many homeless individuals brought out a lot of volunteers as well as many organized groups to help out. We intend on donating time, energy and money to help those who need the extra leverage to get back on their feet. Watching the video I can hear it in Mr. Israel's voice that he has experienced one too many rough nights. If you are currently helping those who are in need of help I would like to say Thank You, if you have been thinking about it but haven't found the time to do so please try to make the time, you'll see the difference your help brings to their eyes and hearts.

Nissan OneOne

The OneOne is envisioned as a sort of lovable pet vehicle. ("Won-won" is a common Japanese imitation for the sound of a barking dog.) Besides being cute, it would also be a helpful member of the family. On its own, it could go fetch some groceries or take a child to school.

The OneOne would move itself along like a skater by alternately pushing out with each of its rear wheels. At high speeds it would lean back for better aerodynamics, but at slower speeds it could "stand up" for better visibility.

I can easily see myself utilizing this bad boy for those quick beer runs during that crucial 4th quarter drive towards the end zone when you know that by leaving the house you can potentially miss a pass or an interception heck maybe even a fan running through the field. All kidding aside this concept is relly intrigueing especially the way our lives moves towards the easy and easier way of living. I give Nissan a 10 on concept and thought.

A continuous problem...

Although the video was done back in 2006 the contents are so true. Illegal immigration is and always was a problem. What we need to do and stick to it is seek those hiring illegals and place such a hefty fine that they will have definite trouble getting back on their feet. With that kind of penalty they'll think twice before breaking the law again in order to save a few bucks on employees and costs over all. We'll get this figured out sooner or later.

Union free if you ask me...

Here in the Toledo area we have seen reports of families wanting for GM leaders to sit down and agree on a contract. I personally know of three people that are current workers at some of these plants. They bring in a lot of money and have some pretty awesome benefits but if you were to ask me if I'm pro union, I'd have to say no. Unions were good back in the day but what we have today is nothing more than highway robbery. I believe that when you work for a living you actually work for it.

Yes there are some out there that have put the time in for their benefits but what I'm talking about is the ones that continue to punch in and do absolutely nothing all day and get a yearly salary of up to $75,000. Listen, I shop at a store called ALDIs here in Toledo, when I want something for less that's where I go or when I want something that's not food related I shop at Wal-Mart. I don't care what union you're in or what you think the union can offer me as a person, a citizen or a family man you cannot argue the point that when it costs you three dollars for a box of cereal at a union store as a opposed to one seventy five at a non-union shop that at the end of the day unions and union shops are considered to be better. I don't know what the out come will be between these two entities but the one thing I can say is that there are other companies out there (Toyota) that run union free and are still producing profits left and right.

I am currently working in a non-union environment and it's great, yes times are tight and the cost for insurance went up which if anything makes my point all the more understandable as to why I shop non-union stores. This strike will hurt those who are used to the big paycheck because although GM has enough stock for a month they can start a hiring binge and get people to work at yes a lower rate but the job will still be there for them as opposed to nothing. Unions are going to be a thing of the past especially if we are to compete in this global economy with the rest of the world.

Show me the money! The real one...

Well it looks like the printing press has changed yet another bill, this time it's the 5 dollar bill. They have added and have taken some features, what they added was an added color "purple" and the have moved the security strip from one location to another. What they took out was the ever popular oval frames that surrounded the president and the memorial. I was a bit shocked to find out that the 5 dollar bills were bleached and then were reprinted as fake 100 dollar bills. Apparently the features of the 5 and 100 were similar so the counterfeiters didn't have much trouble swapping the two. Well let's see how long it will be until the next facelift.

EXPOSED: The Perfect Day...

Glenn Beck is a talk show host as well as a television icon. Well he's going to be an icon sooner or later anyways this post is to help you folks out there get a better understanding of what is going on and what can and from the looks of it will happen. I f you don't like the thought of something being planned behind your back then I suggest you click on the 'Back" button and surf to another site because what's going to be shown when you click on the video link you might be surprised of the complete absence of awareness by the government.

Fallen Timbers...

No this is not a book title, the name on the title is that of a new complex that is being built in Maumee Ohio. I have yet to see it for myself but a friend of mine lives by there and he says that it is looking pretty nice. He has also mentioned that the new complex is built just across the street from one of the battle fields from the early wars. The image you see to the right is that of a monument that was erected in 1949. The outside mall will be a mirror image to the Levis Commons in Perrysburg Ohio. This complex is planned to open some time this year, it will probably open right around the late holidays - just in time for the rush of shoppers.

A Sad Parallel...

I bought a bird feeder.
I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed.
Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the
continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio,
above the table, and next to the barbecue.
Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs,
the table...everywhere.
Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to
peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket.
And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and
squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded
that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took
down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone.
I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all
over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...quiet, serene and no one
demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now lets see...our government gives out free food, subsidized housing,
free medical care,
free education and allows anyone born here to be a automatic citizen.
Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands.

Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments
are housing 5 families:
you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor:
you child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half
the class doesn't speak English:

Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box;
I have to press "one" to hear my bank talk to me
in English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking and
screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder

84-sq. ft. dream home...

This story comes to you from Olympia, Washington. A woman who says she doesn't really need anything except for a smaller place has done so by building herself a small home and relying on solar energy and a propane tank to run her day to day utilities and uses. Dee Williams is quite content with her home and doesn't see the need to have a large home. I know a few friends of mine back in Connecticut that would probably do this just to save some money on expenses as well. Someone making $35-$40 thousand a year can find themselves having a lot of money in the bank that can be used on other necessities. As the cliche goes "You Go Girl".

Gas prices can and will change your mood...

Driving home last night from the store I couldn't help but notice that the price of gas at the gas station closest to me was set at $3.29/gallon. No this was not the high octane type, this was for the lower grade that most people buy. I came across this site (GasBuddy.com) when watching the news and although some of the locations that they suggested to go to and fill up at a lower rate were more then just a few, none of them were close enough to me. I didn't see the point of driving an extra 6-7 miles just spend a little less at the pump, it would kind of defeat the purpose of saving money and gas.
