Sensitivity has a new home...

Good afternoon readers; I would like to get a few words off my chest that have been weighing me down for a while now. Recently I have encountered that this generation (Millennials) are a bit different than genXers. Millennials have developed a sense of being overly sensitive. They can not be criticized on what they do or how they do it. The appreciation factor is at an all time low with them. Most of them won't do something out of kindness or out of spontaneity. They would rather live a life of being asked to accomplish something that is warmhearted and or heart felt instead of seeing and feeling a need to fulfill a void in someone's life. Heck, the concept of volunteering for someone/something is seen as a sentence to purgatory where just an hour or two would seem like an eternity. Everything and anything can be done by them but it would have to be followed by a reward of sorts. I can't imagine what lives these youngsters will live but from what I have seen I can only guess a life of solitude with a hand out waiting for something to be placed in it. Now before I get any comments about the entire generation I want to make sure that this opinion falls upon some millennials and not all. roman

Wow, are you serious...

This story through me for a loop. A pissed off one that is. After reading the article I found myself really disappointed in how the Pentagon is demanding a return on the bonuses given to the men and women who served our country. The idea of doing such a thing is beyond insanity. How many of you reading this post have asked yourself the following - (College loans are being erased/forgiven - why not this as well). I definitely thought of that the moment I read the first paragraph in the story. If the recruiters failed to distribute the funds properly then it should be identified and corrected if such an event like this were to ever occur once more. Check out the article here and let me know what your comments are below.

Tower to be awoken...

It is with great enthusiasm to mention that the downtown Fiberglass Tower will start its revival as soon as next week. According to the story it looks to be the top 11 floors to get the fresh look and turned into 1 or 2 bedroom apartments. I've lived here in Toledo for the past 17 years and I always wondered why that building sat there empty. My wife (a life long Toledoan) informed me of the many reasons why it was vacant. On one of our walks through downtown we stopped by the tower where on Thursdays many food trucks come out and park along N. St. Clair street adjacent to the tower. While eating our food I noticed that the parking garage also owned by the Eydes had what looks to be retail spaces. My wife informed me that at one point those used to to have businesses and people would visit. Now the article and news release does not mention if they will be refinishing the retail spaces but it would add a whole new factor to the area. Especially with Promedica already underway with their construction of their new headquarters. A few retail/restaurants would be promising for the 600+ employees coming into downtown to work for Promedica. Exciting times ahead - so looking forward to seeing this completed. M.R.

Ubering 08/13/2016...

Good afternoon everyone.

First and foremost the following happened at 1:00 am this morning. I was requested to pick up a gentleman by the name of Ben from an excellent restaurant here in Toledo by the name of Sakura. During the ride to his home in downtown Toledo we had shared what's appropriate for a co-workers/partner to discuss when not with the main contributor of the company present. We agreed on so many levels which led us to discuss the partnership of several businesses that are starting to sprout in downtown. There is an old building by name of "The Berdan Building" that is being renovated. Ben informed me that it will have 112 apartments and the first floor will be dedicated to retail and a restaurant. I for one think that would be excellent for any resident in the downtown area living in the building or not.

Here is what the building looked like right before they started the work. Berdan A

Here is the proposed look after the renovations. Berdan B

Even though the artist rendition looks great the building right now looks amazing. They are moving along quite quickly and seeing the way they work it should be done in no time at all. Ben and I had a great conversation during that ride. Driving for UBER is definitely an eye opener in meeting new people.

Have a safe weekend everyone. :)

Ubering 08/12/2016...

Good afternoon everyone, Well today would have to be one of those days that are one in a million. At some point yesterday a bird decided to leave it's unpleasant trails (poop) on the passenger side window and door. I saw it and told myself to clean it off the car at some point in the afternoon. Well this morning when I logged in to Uber I went out to my usual location (with WiFi) to await my first request. Well in about 1 minutes time the request came in and I was off to pick up Michael (rider's name). As I'm waiting at the stop light I glanced to my right and saw what I had forgotten to clean up the day before. I had this huge wave of embarrassment plow through me. There was no way that I was able to get that cleaned up and be on time to pick up my very first rider of the day. So I decided to think of a story for the poop being there without mentioning that I forgot to clean it up. After about a minute of processing it I decided to just say what really happened and let the chips fall where they may. Well, turns out that my first rider of the day Michael is blind. That's right folks - I was worried about the poop being all over my window and door and having to embrace the embarrassment for nothing. So with a big sigh I welcomed Michael and proceeded to take him to his destination. Rest assured that the moment I had the free time to get that hideous splat removed from my sight I was all over it. Needless to say I no longer have that poop problem any more, well until another bird decides to graffiti my ride once again.

A different car indeed...

Good morning everyone, Who remembers when Saab hit the market under GMs name with their oddly shaped vehicle (which I liked)? I do because I thought it looked rather sweet and had an interior that was on par with other vehicles out that year. Well I just read that SAAB is to design for the Swedish military a vehicle electronics for the army's Leopard 2 tanks. Given the history of the SAAB name and reputation I find it exciting that they were able to incorporate their tech into the military's arsenal. I wish the partnership safe travels in this endeavor. Going from SAAB's first creation the SAAB 92 to increasing the effectiveness of the Leopard 2 you have to admit that the transition from start to present is pretty remarkable.

Finding out who's strong...

As you all know Donald Trump is making the rounds throughout the media. Most of them can't stand him, my wife thinks he's a waste of space. I on the other hand find him interesting and amusing at times. Look, the man says what's on his mind without any filters. That is one tactic he has that the other candidates don't and can't have. The man is a business man - not a politician. He has his own money backing so he doesn't have to put on a filter mask before any scheduled interviews or speeches. I for one will be watching this "race" in the next few months. It's early folks, what's happening now will probably not have any affect next year when it's closer to November. Sit back, grab your favorite drink and stick an umbrella in it. It's fun times ahead.

What can I say...

Well, from what I saw today it looks like the Niners are here to kick some ass. This group of guys are so synchronized it's scary. When Smith threw for a season-high 303 yards and three touchdowns and Frank Gore ran for 106 yards and a score you know the recipe is good and the cooking is under way - If you can smell where I'm coming from. The chemistry is great, the staff is great and the support is definitely there. Congrats to you all for getting an excellent win over the Bills. Up next, the Giants - let's welcome them and hand them a loss in a very classy manner.

Breaking Bad

I just started watching this series on Netflix and I have to say, so far so good. I know most of you might be on the new season and stuff but I've been watching other shows. This one popped up and since a lot of my friends are talking about it so I figured I should check it out as well. The first episode went well, trying to figure out the characters and the motive. I will be checking in with remarks on the show. cya

A good day...

Today (so far) has been a really good one. I took my wife out to Steak N Shake for breakfast this morning. The time spent with her was amazing. There's nothing like spending some quality time with the one you love. We try to go out once a week to kinda unwind from the week's load of work and stress. Not sure how many of you reading this take the time to spend it with loved ones but please take a moment and look into their eyes and remind them that you love them very much. We share moments like this often - some call us weird but it's those moments that people need to obtain and hold on to. :)

Follow Up....

Wednesday night's Presidential Debate was definitely an event I'm glad I did not miss. I for one enjoyed watching Obama squirm while Romney kept throwing facts and figures at him. The both did a great job but I have to hand the debate win to Romney. He kept his composure and presented a firm respect for the president while handing him a can of whoop-ass. Next week's debate between the Vice President and nominee will be one I would much rather watch in its' entirety. I know for a fact Biden will find it within him to just be him and completely screw it up. Of course I'll post something after the event.

One of many...

Ok, sorry for the blank day there. I was catching up with work and stuff around the house. Well it looks like tonight is the first Presidential Debate on FOX. How many of you here will be tuned in to watch and see how it turns out?.......................................
Ok not sure if you guys might but I wanted to let you guys know that I will be watching part of it to see where they stand on our still increasing unemployment figures. Some of you might find this boring and choose to watch something else. The beauty of that is that you have the freedom to do so. :)
I will chime in some more tonight - going to do some quick reading on the ins and outs for today's news.

Getting caught...

When the TSA first became a household name I knew something good will come from this group as well as something bad. Well, they have caught a few individuals with "items" that might be harmful to others over the years and for that I thank them. Then all it takes is for one knuckle-head like the guy below to give the rest of the workers a really bad name. Everyone knows that most Americans/passengers only remember the negative experiences in the airport or on the plane. They never mention the great flight they had or the great service at the gate - all you get from them when asked is "It was ok". That's it. Now of course those who watch the video will imprint the thought that ALL TSA agents are thieves. Sad folks, it's really sad.

Still at it...

A late entry for the day but I had to make sure something went up today. I'm still heading forward with the workout routine. Sore but it feels good. Weird, a good sore being welcomed hmm. It was sad to see my 49ers lose this past Sunday but it looked like a few other folks had a bad Sunday as well (I won't say any names - but you know who you are). Kinda busy at work today, I wasn't able to post something at lunch time but I will try to put something up tomorrow. Good night folks. Roman

New Rules - Are they needed or not?

The following came in from the NFL and brought to you by UPI -

NEW ORLEANS (UPI) -- NFL owners meeting in New Orleans Tuesday enacted several rule changes, including moving kickoffs from the 30- to the 35-yard line.

Players on the kicking team will only be allowed a 5-yard running start, instead of 15 yards.

However, the owners declined a recommendation by the league's competition committee to move touchbacks from the 20-yard line to the 25.

In another change, the booth official will now confirm all questionable scoring plays. Coaches will still be allowed two challenges per game, gaining a third if they are correct their first two.

The owners also acted to end confusion on penalties for dead ball fouls. The end of a half will not be extended for those infractions.

The league decreed all playing surfaces must remain grass-colored.

Well,
I can already see that the idea of giving the kicking team only five yards to run will cause a few penalties due to passing the kick-off line with it being closer than before.

I can safely assume a lot of touch-backs will be the end result based on the added five yards. The league denied the addition of five yards to the touch-back from the 20- to the 25- yard line. I can see why they kept it at the original 20. The last thing the opposing team needs is an added advantage to driving the ball to the end zone.

I will also have to agree that the field should remain green and not any other color. It was green when it all started so it should remain green from now on.

Leave me a comment on what you think about the rule changes.

Rescue Me

I started to watch Rescue Me about a month ago on Netflix. I have to admit that I did not want to try it when I first heard about it but now that I've watched season 1 I have to say this show is awesome and very well presented. Each episode leaves you wanting more and more to the point where you can't wait to watch the next episode (I space them out so that I don't watch them all at once) just to see what happens next. If you have Netflix and are on the hunt for a good show to watch please take the time and chance to watch Rescue Me.

Getting there...

Well, it's week two and I've trying this new workout that makes me focus on my actual workout and not how much I can do in a short period of time. Each rep I do I have to slow it down and really focus on the movement. I can honestly say that it feels great after my first set. Bench pressing is tough already but adding the slow factor really makes you feel the burn.
Till next time
