A different car indeed...

Good morning everyone, Who remembers when Saab hit the market under GMs name with their oddly shaped vehicle (which I liked)? I do because I thought it looked rather sweet and had an interior that was on par with other vehicles out that year. Well I just read that SAAB is to design for the Swedish military a vehicle electronics for the army's Leopard 2 tanks. Given the history of the SAAB name and reputation I find it exciting that they were able to incorporate their tech into the military's arsenal. I wish the partnership safe travels in this endeavor. Going from SAAB's first creation the SAAB 92 to increasing the effectiveness of the Leopard 2 you have to admit that the transition from start to present is pretty remarkable.

Finding out who's strong...

As you all know Donald Trump is making the rounds throughout the media. Most of them can't stand him, my wife thinks he's a waste of space. I on the other hand find him interesting and amusing at times. Look, the man says what's on his mind without any filters. That is one tactic he has that the other candidates don't and can't have. The man is a business man - not a politician. He has his own money backing so he doesn't have to put on a filter mask before any scheduled interviews or speeches. I for one will be watching this "race" in the next few months. It's early folks, what's happening now will probably not have any affect next year when it's closer to November. Sit back, grab your favorite drink and stick an umbrella in it. It's fun times ahead.

Well, It's been a few months since my last post. I want to first and foremost say that my leg is much better then before. I am currently increasing my workout routine to the point where I am working out at work during lunch break. I am currently following a guy by the name of Mike Chang (on YouTube). He has an awesome collection of videos that can help you get back in shape or for others to stay in shape. I have only done this for about a week now but I do feel a heck of a lot better. I will try to keep things flowing here on a daily basis with day to day issues my transformation and whatever pops into my head that needs to be addressed. See you guys later. Roman

Excellent!

It always feels good to know that people out there understand the situation that our homeless people have and instead of walking by dropping change they actually take the time to talk to these folks and help them in whatever ways they can. Here in Toledo, OH we have an annual weekend event call "Tent City". This group of wonderful people (1Matters.org) get together months in advance to orchestrate an excellent event. Hats off to this fine group and to Mr. Frank McKinney for his continued help in making sure the homeless get back on their feet.

Hope and change...

Hope and change is what the Obama campaign rode on but unfortunately here in Toledo we seem to keep things the same without any strained thought. Once again we have another offer for the docks across from downtown Toledo and from what I've read/heard in other blogs (GCJ) and the many callers on the radio - it looks like we might be turning this down as well and continue to think that the city should be in the business of running a business. This city can't resist an opportunity to keep us in the depths of blight. We will dick this around for weeks, the group interested will change their minds and we will soon see matching plywood panels (like the many buildings in downtown) covering the windows of the empty restaurants and like clock work we will have the same stupid questions from elected officials i.e. "What can we do to better this city?".

Hoping for a change in the politics here in Toledo but I pretty much know the answer to that one.

Getting there...

Well, it's week two and I've trying this new workout that makes me focus on my actual workout and not how much I can do in a short period of time. Each rep I do I have to slow it down and really focus on the movement. I can honestly say that it feels great after my first set. Bench pressing is tough already but adding the slow factor really makes you feel the burn.

Helpful tips...

The more I read on what's best for a great and successful workout the more I want to add to my routine. I just read a small tid bit on the Men's Health website that could help me when working out. I have had it wrong for quite a long time now. I had it fixed in my mind that when I wear "sweat pants & sweat shirts" that I was doing the right thing. Well it turns out that it would be better to switch to synthetic clothing so that the sweat that pours out of me won't weigh me down even more. I will try this out tonight and see what the difference would feel like. I will post tomorrow as to the results of my workout.

Worth a try...

I came across this helpful video during my daily read at the Men's Health website. I just might add this routine to my daily workout. With the way it get's your body motivated it's sure to help me out in the long run. Watch it and let me know what you think of this guys ideas.

I'm still at it...

I've received some e-mails from some friends that I used to chat with at a photo blog called Photo Hunters. So to better spread the word I figured I can say it here and it should spread out to everyone (I hope). I am still taking photos of certain things weird or not, I am really falling behind on updating my photo site and for that I do apologize. I'm trying to maintain a better effort when it comes to my pictures and presentation so please bare with me. I have also received a few e-mails asking me about my style of picture taking. I found it hard to explain but I did find some information on how someone can keep themselves motivated when it comes to photography. Give it a read and come back to let me know how that went.

I wonder what Rush will do?

I just got an update from a news source the UNEASYsilence that has said that the popular over the counter product known as Zicam is harmful to people who use it. The main harm is the loss of the sense of smell. I'm looking into this a bit more before I say anything else because the last thing I need is a lie spread by others that might believe it. Now I do know Rush Limbaugh uses the stuff and repeatedly mentions the use of it with the swabs and stuff. I need to visit his site and see if he has any information regarding this issue. I'll keep you guys posted.

In the near future...

How many of you here are Star Trek fans?
How many of you know the series really well? Well if you're still reading this you either a true fan or someone wanting to waste time and continue reading. Either way I came across an article this morning referencing the possibility of traveling in warp speed - that's right I said warp. With the way our technology jumps ahead each new year I can easily say that warp travel is n the near future. The possibiliets would be endless especially when it comes to space exploration. Could there be Star Fleet organization be forming right now behind closed doors? Who knows maybe there is or maybe the only step that has been takien in that direction is simply the theory of such an accomplishment. Given the way this world started and where we are today this future feels more possible then anything else.

You know it's coming...

Grim predictions

The writer of this essay is Jerry Molen, an Academy Award winning Hollywood Producer, who produced Jurassic Park, Hook, Rain Man and many more classy movies, and who won the Academy Award for Schindler's List. Jerry is one of the very few conservatives in Hollywood - but wants to include Democrats. He says:

We are about to make the Mother-of-All-Mistakes, because the Republican Party gave us no reliable alternative. If the conservative movement does not rally behind the only alternative left to us, this country will become a true Socialist State within the next two Presidential terms.

Ladies and Gentleman, this is the most grave situation this nation has faced in my lifetime. We just experienced an over-hyped, outrageous primary election season that has left me wondering where the heads of our citizens are hiding - must be someplace where the sun doesn't go very often.

At one time in my life I was a determined, dedicated and ever-loyal registered Democrat. Then something happened - Lyndon Baines Johnson - that turned my life around and gave me pause for the veracity of a party that lives and feeds off of the most unfortunate among us. Some of them are in their positions in life by their own choosing, others by outside circumstance. But always, always there was a door open to them, to reach for new heights, achieve new goals, change their lives for the better. Similarly, there have always been the bottom feeders, doing what they could to take advantage of those who had not or have not seen better days, nor realized that they in fact were the masters of their own destiny - these unfortunates had come to believe that they were dependent on people in Washington, who would look out for and take care of them. They waited and still wait for all those promised freebies.

Most people don't reflect upon the fact that the Democrats ruled Washington for over 40 years; it wasn't until 1994 when the so-called Gingrich Revolution changed - but only for a while. These same people do not realize that it was the Democrats who created the failed policies of the entitlement programs that are now falling apart before our eyes.

Do not think I find the Republicans blameless in all this. They, too, suffer from the ego and greed built into our system. But in the past few months I have listened with growing horror to the railings of the left, calling for yet more giveaways, more promises of a proverbial 'free lunch.' What sums up my feelings, why I am appalled by those in political power is contained within a quote by basketball legend and talk show host Charles Barkley: 'Poor people have been voting for Democrats for the last fifty years....and they are still poor.'

Now, with our elections, come yet more new promises of 'change:' 'change we can believe in,' 'hope for the future'. But if you really, I mean REALLY listen to what the new messiah is asking for, it is not 'change of policy' or 'change for the better' - this is a warning that he wants our change. And the change you will get will not be the change you expected or wanted.

I leave you my predictions of what will happen if the junior Senator from Illinois becomes President - especially if the House and Senate are veto-proof Democrat:

1). Strict gun laws, though he promised he would not.

2). 'In God We Trust' will be removed from all currency.

3). He will renege on his pledge to Israel and leave them to the wolves of Islam.

4). Hillary Clinton will be named to the Supreme Court.
5). Tax rates will surge to the highest levels in 30 years.

6). Capital gains tax will be at least double current levels.

7). Retired Army General Wesley Clark will be named Secretary of Defense.
8). Our borders will be open to all comers - especially from the Middle East and South America .
9). Amnesty will be granted to all illegals in the U.S, regardless of status or even gang membership (think MS-13).
10). Our presence in Iraq will come to an abrupt end - with tragic results to their citizens and devastating consequences to our military.

My predictions will not sit well with some people - the best we could hope for is that I am wrong.

Appointed Chancellor of Germany...

Hitler was Appointed Chancellor of Germany 75 years ago today. (1933)
Hitler's rise to power began long before 1933, with his development of the Nazi party in the early 1920s and the widespread release of his book, Mein Kampf, in 1925. After the Nazi party lost seats in Germany's November 1932 parliamentary elections, leading businessmen and political figures appealed to Germany's president to appoint Hitler chancellor. As chancellor, Hitler quickly moved to eliminate his rivals and consolidate his power. Hitler's history isn't being mentioned here to promote or encourage what he did, this post is to remind people that even when someone like Adolf can work behind the scenes and position themselves higher in the ranks ou might want to keep an eye out or at least be aware.

Saturday Photo Hunt - Important

The gentleman you see to the right is Mr. Ken Leslie. He is the a man that considers himself just another person doing the right thing for those in need. Ken, my wife and myself have had a few meetings and get togethers in the past and are planning to continue because the 'important' thing is to remember that there are homeless people out there both veteran and non-veteran. He runs a site by the name 1Matters.org. Council Meeting...

Yesterday had to be one of the most interesting days in Council history. I sat down and watched the recording that my wife had on the meeting. It started out to be normal with the prayer and pledge to the flag. It's what happened after that that had me on the edge. I was watching with a huge concern that was mainly based on the way the group itself behaved with each other. It was business as usual until M. Ashford asked/demanded for a question to be seperated. I know very little on the inner workings and the rules of this group but what I experienced from yesterday's meeting seemed to be that some of them had trouble understanding their own rules and regulations. The only thing I have to say in regards to the meeting is that they should at some point either get together and work out the questionable points in the books and find a way for all of them to understand them accordingly. Maybe a re-education course on them ins and outs of the rules is needed.

Something for Starbucks...

No this post is not recommending that Starbucks use animals in their coffee, but what this blogger does wonder is - Does Starbucks use the beans that the little fellow to the right poops? Sounds weird huh, well that's what I thought until I watched a video that explains what the process is for getting such unique beans. A rare type of coffee made from the droppings of the civet cat is wowing coffee connoisseurs around the world.

Enzymes in the cats' stomach break down the proteins that give coffee its bitter taste, thus enhancing its flavor. Now I drink coffee each morning when I'm at work but the thought that it's origin was being grown then eaten by a cat then processed through it and then picked up right after its' disposed of doesn't really call to me as mountain fresh like Folgers or as exotic as Cafe Bustelo. If this is considered to be a way of the future or possibly produced in large numbers then I feel sorry for the civet cat. Why? Well most of you know that our cows aren't exactly producing milk in a normal fashion anymore so these little critters are going to be fed these beans and expected to crap them out in a timely manner. So for the cats sake let's hope that Starbucks doesn't catch wind of this growing trend.
