So far so good...

In case some of you didn't know - my oldest daughter has saved a dog from the pound by adopting her. Yes, the dog you see to the right is the one. Alma is her name and bath time as you can see is not exactly her game. She looks great and from the videos I've seen of her she seems to have a great attitude and wonderful spirit around people. I would like to thank you again Em for saving that wonderful creature and giving her a wonderful home.

A good deed...

Yesterday was a day that will go down in history as the day that my daughter has gone off the deep end and bought herself a dog. That's right folks a DOG, okay maybe it's not the end of the world but I thought she was going to get a dog that would be more suitable for her apartment. What you see to the left (although cute) is everything but small. The new dog goes by the name Alma, a beautiful name but I'm thinking it will change once the her personality comes out full force. Congrats Emily on getting a good looking dog and of course thank you for rescuing one from the pound. I love you and I hope Alma shows you how much she loves you for freeing her from the cages.

A strong love...

I just got done watching a video of a man that almost lost his dog to a shark - yes a shark. The thought of involving yourself to help a fellow family member might come as a surprise to some people but for this gentleman it wasn't something worth pondering. He quickly sprung into action and saved the dog from the jaws of the shark by punching the shark hard enough so that it would release its' grip. I would probably act the same way for my dog but there are some times where I might not because the dog was a bit of a pain that day or something but if it was any of my family members I would definitely do something to help them. Watch the video and see for yourself the love that he has for his dog.

DMX 'Dogged'

Reading today's headlines I came across one of my favorite rapper's home being raided based on an tip that the Arizona sheriffs received - from what I read it seems that DMX has hired an assistance to help look over his dogs while he was away in New York. The guy has not been found yet but they are going to try and pin this on DMX. The video that is attached to the story has a few disturbing images of malnourished dogs. These dogs look like they haven't been fed in weeks. Let's hope that this doesn't end up like a Vick story. The only plus side that DMX has is that he works for himself and does not have a boss or organization to answer to or maybe I'm wrong.

Cowards, simply cowards...

With the whole Michael Vick BS that is going on and the daily encounters with dog fighting arenas all I want is for those who run, profit, enjoy and okay dog fights should be put to sleep as well. With all the cases that are currently spread through out the US and some that are on back log, the cost of fees and bonds or even jail time may be handed down according to each state's law but in the end it's always going to be the end of the road for the dogs that were raised to be killers and nothing more. Cowards is a word that I'm using because I try to keep a clean running blog here, the people that have known, seen or participated in dog fights should be sentenced to the same fate that the dog was. Why should the dog who was bred to fight and kill be the only one to get the ultimate end while the cowards who brought them up and exposed them get a few years or months depending on the f*$%ing plea deal (that's another BS that just pisses me off) - I strongly believe that if you are going to willingly put an animal at risk and then place a wager in hopes that the animal makes it is just plain wrong and the deal that was made in regards to the bet should be used as a form of final understanding that the owner and those watching and cheering for their sentencing to death. They knew it was wrong but went ahead and did it anyways, to me that's murder or if you're a complete loser and dump the animal somewhere then the case would be homicide.

Got Insurance?

A very easy question to ask and most families will say yes but when asked if they have pet insurance, the answers usually range in a low number. I currently do not have insurance my pets, with the coverage of lost animals due to the food scare that had a large amount of grocery stores recalling their stock I seriously thought about purchasing a plan for my dog. I know that it shouldn't take a scare of that size to smarten up but in the past vet bills used to range pretty high, now I hear that almost all vets have the right equipment and skills to handle what at one point was deemed untreatable. Insure your pets today because if something like pet food can poison them you really need something to fall back on.
