Is it me or is it everyone else...

Using today alone I must of spotted at least 12 drivers that have a total lack of common sense when driving on the roads here in town. I have a strong theory about those of you out there that have new cars. I'm thinking that those Mercedes, Lexus, Mazda etc. etc. owners spent so much money just getting that car that the feature that should be included (turn signals) might not have been affordable. These guys were all over the road and God forbid they would let you know that they intend on cutting you off with out any warning what so ever. So for today I am sticking with any expensive car owner out there driving must not of been able to afford the turn signal package.
I will continue to post these knuckle heads on daily purpose if at all possible. Heck maybe I'll throw in a photo or two.

Just a little concerned...

The other day when I went on my walk I noticed a section of the road I was on sinking on the edges. When I got closer I noticed three orange cones that were laying down near the area. The image you see to the left is that of the section of the road I'm speaking of. I stood the cones up so that those driving on that road would be aware of the possible danger. Would you believe me if I told you that on my way back from my walk I found the cones to be knocked over again and this time they were pushed towards the railing where no one can see them. I retrieved them from the brush and stood them back up, I have not gone back to see if they were untouched yet but if they are I'm going to see if I can get someone from the city to come over and see what they can do to keep these cones from being knocked down or removed. I'll post an update as soon as I get a chance to go on my walk today.

Trying to make some extra money...

Well this morning could not of been any more entertaining. I would like to first mention that I have been collecting a lot of metal materials like aluminum cans and other aluminum items so that I can take them into the recycling center and make some money. Well I have managed to hold on to about 26lbs of cans and about 108lbs of aluminum thus far. Well after getting it all to fit in my Camry I headed out to the center - along the way I happened to meet an interesting character. The character would be an unnamed rock/boulder - it made a really close introduction by scrapping under my car and causing what was a small gas leak turn into an all out gas leak. There I was trying to dispose of all this aluminum and the smell of gasoline can be picked by everyone there which of course had to inform me that I had a leak. DUH! I finally got the cans in one bin and the other material in another.

The cans were 26lbs for a huge payout of $10 (sarcastic face of course)! The other material was not processed because since most of it looked the same the center was cautious and asked me to get a letter head from my employer (they gave me the scrapped pieces) and bring it back so that I can get payed. Now here I was with a slip to fill out and a pocket with a fresh scented $10 bill in it and a huge concern if I was going to make it to the gas station or was I going to have to hike it to get some gas. Well the car did make it to the station but not before giving me some scary moments. That's right, the car stalled twice - once at a light and the other was right before I pulled into the gas station.

I managed to coast it in right up to a pump. The smell of gasoline was of course with me when I got out to pay for some more. I put in five bucks worth in hopes that it wouldn't be on the road immediately - I was able to drop it off at Doug's Automotive on South Avenue in Toledo. There the car sits until Doug looks at it tomorrow. So what started out to be a money maker ended up being what might be a large expense. Moral of the story - don't meet any strange "characters" on your way out because it will cost you one way or another. Your best bet is to swerve away.

I wonder what Rush will do?

I just got an update from a news source the UNEASYsilence that has said that the popular over the counter product known as Zicam is harmful to people who use it. The main harm is the loss of the sense of smell. I'm looking into this a bit more before I say anything else because the last thing I need is a lie spread by others that might believe it. Now I do know Rush Limbaugh uses the stuff and repeatedly mentions the use of it with the swabs and stuff. I need to visit his site and see if he has any information regarding this issue. I'll keep you guys posted.

Viewing the incredible...

While on a trip to Gran Rapids Ohio on Thursday I noticed that some of the roads were closed due to flooding. Now when I finally got to the village I had a chance to get a few pictures of a home that was near the river and as you can see it didn't turn out so good for that family. Then on Friday when I went to make a delivery to one of our affiliates I noticed the Maumee river was way over it's height. I have not had a chance to go back and see what the level looks like now but I plan on going over tomorrow and seeing what the river looks like now.

No Boots for Brady?

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (UPI) -- New England quarterback Tom Brady made an appearance at a pre-Super Bowl rally without a boot on the reported high right ankle sprain. The rally took place at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. before the Patriots boarded a flight to the site of Super Bowl XLII next Sunday in Glendale, Ariz. Last week, photos showed Brady wearing a boot on the ankle but he and team officials have been mum about the reason.

"Now this is the Foxboro faithful right here," Brady said when he addressed the fans who showed up while it was snowing. "We're going down there for one reason, for one reason, that's to bring a title back to Foxboro." When the Patriots face the New York Giants, they will try to complete the NFL's first-ever 19-0 season in their fourth trip to the big game in the past seven seasons.

Get a hold of yourself...

If you get car sick, you probably anticipate every extended road trip with dread. Car sickness is just one kind of motion sickness (or kinetosis) that some unlucky people experience when they're riding in a car or any other type of automobile. Dizziness, fatigue and nausea might make the trip miserable, and even vomiting doesn't make the affected person feel any better.

My oldest daughter Emily went on a cruise to the Bahamas and found herself vomiting on the ship well not on the ship but in the restroom. She is currently in Vermont skiing with her boyfriend Joe. I know she doesn't get car sick because I know that she loves to drive and I forgot to mention that she flew to Florida to board the ship, as far as I know she doesn't get air sick either.

So how do you go about preventing car sickness in the first place? Here are some ways to enjoy the ride, sickness-free heck maybe these tips can help with other motion issues.

* Get a good night's sleep before stepping into the car.

* Don't eat a heavy meal or consume alcohol right before you take off on your trip.

* Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

* Don't talk about motion sickness, or even look at someone else who's experiencing it.[6]

* Help prevent car sickness in children by giving them a raised seat where they have a clear view of the outdoors, and play games that encourage them to look outwards.

* If you find map-reading makes you sick, ask the driver to pull over to check a map.

* Some people suggest freshly sliced ginger in a bottle of water to sip helps them alleviate motion sickness.

* Some people swear the smell of newspaper makes them feel better. Since reading the paper will probably make you sick, just have some newspaper in the car with you because all you really need is the smell. If you don't always have a newspaper handy, many art supply stores sell pads of newsprint (which smells the same) that you may put in the car.

* Take 50-75 mg of vitamin B6, sense the day before, or at least 60 minutes before boarding the vehicle. Take it every day while the trip lasts. No harm in it, excess of B6 will go out by the urine. (The only problem could be if you are allergic to B6.)

* Some people can be upset in a car by eating chocolate in the morning.

Hopefully the previous tips can help those of you out there handle this matter with a better outcome.

Extra Security...

Seems that PayPal's security key isn't necessarily so secure. [A] user discovered a bug that makes the key useless in certain situations. By entering his valid PayPal login and password, answering a security question and entering ANY six-digit number, he can make a purchase. It is important to note that that PayPal and EBay have not been able to reproduce the error ...
The entry above was written by Dan Goodin in San Francisco. I haven't met anyone who has one of these but it seems like a good idea especially if you think that their is someone out there watching every move you make.

Someone actually understands...

Mitt RomneyWASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said this week that if elected president he would punish states that provide illegal immigrants with tuition breaks or those that issue them driver's licenses.
I can't for the life of me understand how those states that offer the licenses and tuition breaks to illegal immigrants can actually think that what they're doing is okay. We as a nation have laws that were created to better this country, I can imagine the outrage of the immigrants who are taking the time to enter this country "Legally" when they watch the news and hear that illegals get rights from this country by simply breaking the law. That has to be the biggest disappointment ever to know that a country that is strong in diversity can't manage to keep themselves protected from border crossers. Most immigrants are coming here to leave the world they know of where border crossers come and disrupt the flow of life by either killing people for the wrong reason or for any reason. Here they are now entering what is known as the 'Liberty and Freedom Country' the legal way and they find themselves witnessing illegal border crossings which they have already seen before and they can only assume that this isn't going to end up good. I can't blame them for coming to that conclusion because the truth of the matter is slapping us right in the face. Let's not keep the blinders on and think that we're a okay - just remember 9-11-01. Watch the complete interview below and you decide what it is you want in a president.

Citizens On Patrol = COP

This idea is something that I can see myself pushing here in Toledo area. Our police force is a bit slim so this extra help would definitely help keep our neighborhoods safe from those who like to express their "freedom" to speed and potentially kill someone. I support this action as much if not more then the red light camera system that catches red light runners. Both types of ways of catching law breakers are ok with me.

Stopping the Scammers...

I got this little FYI from a co-worker that I consider a good friend, read it and please watch out for scammers...

NEW CREDIT CARD SCAM
The Holiday Season is just a little bit down the road and the bad guys are
already trying to get free stuff by using your credit.

This one is pretty slick since they provide YOU with all the information,
except the one piece they want. Note, the callers do not ask for your card
number; they already have it.

This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA and
MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to
protect yourself.

One of our employees was called on Wednesday from 'VISA', and I was called
on Thursday from 'Master Card'. The scam works like this: Person calling
says, 'This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud
Department at VISA. My badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged
for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be
on your VISA card which was issued by ( name of bank). Did you purchase an
Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in
Arizona ?' ........

When you say 'No', the caller continues with, 'Then we will be issuing a
credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the
charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that
flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to
(gives you your address), is that correct?' You say 'yes'.......

The caller continues - 'I will be starting a Fraud investigation. If you
have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number listed on the back of
your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security. You will need to refer to this
Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. 'Do you need me
to read it again?'

Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works. The caller then says, 'I
need to verify you are in possession of your card.' He'll ask you to 'turn
your card over and look for some numbers.' There are 7 numbers; the first 4
are part of your card number, the next 3 are the security Numbers' that
verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you
sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card.....

The caller will ask you to read the 3 numbers to him. After you tell the
caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, 'That is correct, I just needed to verify
that the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your
card. Do you have any other questions?' After you say, 'No,' the caller
then thanks you and states, 'Don't hesitate to call back if you do', and
hangs up. ....

You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the Card
number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back within 20
minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA security
Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase
of $497.99 was charged to our card.

Long story - short - we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA
account. VISA is reissuing us a new number. What the scammers want is the
3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't give it to them. Instead,
tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly for verification of their
conversation.

The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card as
they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give
the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a credit.
However, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases
you didn't make, and by then it's almost too late and/or more difficult to
actually file a fraud report.

What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a
'Jason Richardson of Master Card' with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA
scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police
report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of
these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this
scam is happening. Please pass this on to all your family and friends. By
informing each other, we protect each other.

Will it end?

Watching the news coverage last night and this morning the one thing in my mind and heart was the safety of the people involved whether it's home owners, neighbors or the brave firefighters fighting this fire with all their might. They have reported that only one life was lost thus far, my hope is that it stays at that number and does not increase as time goes on. I also hope that these brave fighters are being rotated so that exhaustion doesn't partner up with this furious fire. I have posted before about how home owners can try and prevent something like this from happening by simply running a hose line over your house that would act as a sprinkler of sorts to keep the home damp while the fire rushes by. In the end a lot will be lost but the families will continue living together safe and sound.

Another duct tape moment...

How much will any one of you reading this bet me that one of these clowns will try to go to court and appeal their citation because they had the right to face their accuser. View the video below. My answer would be simply this "Look jerk-off if you hadn't been speeding by these tolls and not paying we might of caught you eventually but because you're a fu*#ing crook and would rather break the law instead of paying now we have to use cameras just to catch your dumb butt". It's just like here in Toledo, we have the red light camera system where they take the a photo of your car when you run a light, some morons here start crying invasion of privacy. My simple answer would be "STOP AT A RED!" If you know you're not going to make it then for god's sake stop and wait for the next green light, don't take the chance of being caught breaking the law. No one will invade your fu*#ing privacy if you obey the laws, it's as simple as that. I need to buy stock in duct tape.

Commercials that confuse those watching...

Last night was premiere night on NBC. I enjoyed the shows that were presented, each of them had their interesting catches where they kept you watching all the way through. What I began to hate more and more each and every commercial break was an ad for anti-depressant pills. I understand that there are people out there that suffer from depression, I find myself depressed at times too but I will never turn to a pill to trick my mind and have it think that things are better. The ad shows some people really down in the dumps and sad, I can't figure out how a pill will help you feel or get better. 68% of Americans suffer from depression that is financially related. I cannot see how this pill will help them out with their scenario. They may be able to take the pill and some how feel better the next day but guess what unless they get a raise or a bonus or the winning lottery numbers to millions of dollars they will be depressed the following day 'guaranteed'. About 12% suffer from family loss, guess what folks this pill will not bring back loved ones. What it will do is make you dependent on it and you'll find yourself having not only depression but an addiction. If you have heard or seen these ads please take the time to listen carefully to the end where they speak about the side effects and harmful reactions. If some of you need something like this then by all means take them but as for me I know that things are tough and the only thing that can help me will be me not a pill.

EXPOSED: The Perfect Day Part 2...

This is part two of Glenn Beck's exposure of what we should be looking out for and the awareness that we should have regardless to what the threat level is at. I have read and seen videos of what glenn is talking about and I can understand clearly what needs to be done. I have already mentioned it to some of my daughter's teachers that what ever they have in the plan book as far as emergencies need to be changed around every so often. If you watch the video please be advised that there will be talk of certain moments during a hostage situation in Russia a few years ago.

Which One?

First-grader dropped off on wrong side of river
By: The Toledo Journal

Little NajaƩ Pettaway got off the yellow school bus after the first day of school at the same corner, just like last year.
But NajaĆ©, 6, doesn’t live there anymore. Not even close. She lives on the other side of the river, in East Toledo.

Now something like this happens pretty much anywhere, thankfully the end results were good and not a tragedy. I can understand how a child might be placed in a group to board a bus mistakenly. I am wondering will they implement a new policy where each teacher will have a roll call list of each of their students noting which bus they are to board so that they don't have to rely on a computer that might go down because of something either breaking it or possibly spilling on it. If this was done before the coolant leak they would of simply relied on the list to get the kids home safely. Hopefully they will create such a list so that parents at home don't have to wait in anticipation to see if their child will or will not come out through those bright yellow doors. My daughter had that same problem just yesterday when one of the bus monitors (adults) told her to get on a bus she knew wasn't the right one and proceeded to tell the monitor that this is not her bus but the adult wouldn't let her explain. So she ended up missing her bus while the monitor simply said nothing and went back in the building. I ended up leaving work so that I can pick her up, I told her that regardless to what any of the monitors says about what bus she is to ride she knows exactly what bus to ride and where to catch it. Some of the assistants are trying to remember faces and names and I'm glad for that effort but if the student knows for a fact what bus they ride home please don't ignore the student just listen and be brave enough to say "I'm sorry, I've made a mistake".

Singleton singled out...

John Singleton
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Oscar-nominated director John Singleton accidentally struck and killed a pedestrian, a Los Angeles police spokesman said late Friday.
John Singleton directed "Rosewood," "Baby Boy," "Shaft" and "Four Brothers" after "Boyz N the Hood."
Constance Russell, 57, of Los Angeles, died at a hospital a few hours after the accident Thursday evening, Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee said. Russell was not using a crosswalk when she stepped in front of Singleton's car, Lee said.

Reading the article I learned that he was not drunk or under the influence of any drugs or any other type of substance. However because the victim was killed this case was turned over to the district attorney's office for review by officer Jason Lee. I hope that this will be understood as an accident and not a hit, by looking at some of the laws there in Los Angeles I found out that they do enforce the no J-Walking rule. With that in place and also the officer stating that Russell walked in front of John's vehicle instead of using the crosswalk should be enough to clear John of any wrong doing, but it's California so anything can happen...

Bad Parenting...

After watching a news video of Elvira Arrellano who was deported not once but twice has filed to sue the United States. Her main case is that it is America's fault for not enforcing their immigration laws. Now correct me if I'm wrong here - did she not get deported TWICE for crossing the border illegally? That alone should throw her case right out of the court. If the system isn't working so great then why were you tossed out twice. The title of this post is one that most people don't tie in together with the news video - When she crossed the border the first time she decided to have a child so that the child would be a legal citizen, fine, but she must of known that even though the child was going to be born in the U.S. and be a citizen that still didn't change her situation. If she knew this and went ahead and had the child then she should be prosecuted for child endangerment and neglect. Why's that you ask? She placed her child in harms way by first getting pregnant then by having the child here in the US, second she knew that upon the official's knowledge of her being here again she was going to be deported with out her son. Angelica Salas spoke about the laws being inhumane and mean spirited, the law is the law she should of said those words to her friend there Elvira. She should of told her that the US has laws that should be followed and not broken, if you enter illegally you will be deported and if you have a child in the US he/she will be kept in the US while you will be deported, you will be seen as someone who has neglected laws, understanding reason and above all your child. That is what should of been told to her before she even left her Mexican home the night of her first border jump.

A great idea...

This father definitely gets my support 100%. He is actually finding a solution for what is currently a problem in just about any school. Columbine was a tragic event and then watching the Virginia Tech terror unfold was just enough for most parents out there. This father will not wait for some nut job to take his kid's life if something horrible was to happen at their school. Most people believe that he is cashing in on a paranoid-able situation, all I have to say is that when the children of those who don't like this idea are involved in a scenario where this pack would come in handy and all they have is a clear view of an individual with a cold heart pointing their gun at them please do not come crying afterwards saying that you should bought one because by then it will not do you any good.
